You didn’t even mention it but a HUGE reason for Titanic’s success was that it was IP which had cultural relevance before becoming a film.

There were a lot of Titanic docs in 80s and 90s, so interest was was def on the rise just as Cameron dropped his version!

My husband and I have never seen Titanic and never will. My mother even had a DVD of it and gave it to me and I never watched it. I refuse.
