Bro the Canes are tied 1-1 with Vegas in the finals. You turned it off too early—they came back from a 2-0 deficit with 10 min remaining in game 2 to win 3-2 in OT 🤠

This was awesome, but so many Hollywood folks are entranced by the "small bet, potential big returns" approach. But it's not the only one. Far from it.

Blum's model doesn't really account for something like the Matrix or Kpop Demon Hunters. Huge upfront bet, bigger returns (arguably). It's also important that we have ongoing real life examples that big budget originals can still be a great bet for studios/streamers. The more ongoing examples in both areas, the more bets placed in the industry, which should be the true ultimate aim. The more we fantasize about only one, the less of the other is accounted for.

It's great to speculate on the best courses of action in Hollywood, but it (as well as business) will always be the space of just when you think you have it figured out, one film or show flips everything on its head.
