Great post! Dishoom was a highlight of my work trip to London. Super vibey spot in Shoreditch and I was impressed by the customer service (chai in line, drinks while waiting for table).
Hi Trung, this is the second SatPost in a row I didn’t receive via email. I can’t seem to see a way of subscribing again so I’m not sure if I’ve fallen off or if something else has happened - not sure if you’re seeing any drop in your email views but I’m certainly not getting any more!
Still loving the work though, will just have to manually check sporadically.
I’ve been a subscriber for a while and used to receive them all, but the last two haven’t come through via email like they used to. Substack is showing me as still subscribed and I’m receiving other newsletters I’m subscribed to via substack, so it’s odd.
Were you by any chance able to re-add me to the list? I’ve still not received anything new via email since the One Battle After Another review. FWIW I don’t recall unsubscribing and wouldn’t as I’ve been a subscriber for a while and enjoy the content a lot.
I’ve unsubscribed and resubscribed to try and make it work, but still nothing.
Sorry for being a pain, I appreciate I’m only one reader and probably not the best use of your time, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s a hotmail issue or something else?
I can’t add attachments, but I did also try sub stack themselves and the chat bot said it cannot find “SatPost by Trung Phan” so wasn’t able to help me either. If you want me to email you the screengrab of the chat I can do. Just in case I’m one (overly diligent) subscriber who’s reflective of larger number who’s fallen off and impacting your reach. Thanks.
No mate. Seems Dishoom is not in Australia. But hopefully on our trip to Europe, I'll take him to the restaurant. Oh wait! UK isn't part of the EU anymore. LoL!!
I feel I must correct something you wrote at the start, namely that Bombay comes from the Portuguese for “good bay”. This is a myth spread in the Anglosphere and India. Bombay does come from the Portuguese Bombaím, but that doesn’t mean good bay at all, it’s just how the word Mumbai has translated over (Mombaím became Bombaím). Good bay in Portuguese is “baía boa”. In effect Bombay is not a “new” term but simply a corruption of Mumbai.
I don’t blame you though, as Dishoom themselves have this myth written on their menus.

Thanks for the read, Steve. +1 on the chai, such a great primer for experience.

Hey Tim, which email did you subscribe with? Will check. Thank you.
Awesome thanks Trung. It’s tsconder@hotmail.com

Hey Tim! I figured out the issue.
I send the actual email from trungphan@workweek.com.
It looks like you opted out of that send on October 5. I'll add back to the list. Thank you.
Hey Trung, happy holidays and I hope alls well.

@trungphan2, what a fantastic read! Thanks for your detailed research, terrible memes 😆, and depth of writing. Absolutely loved it.
I actually asked my teenage boy to get off his video game and read this and other posts by you. :)
Thank you Rajesh! hahaha SatPost is a definitely a goto place for awful memes.
Separately, have you been able to take your son to Dishoom?!

JUST HOP OVER THE POND!!! (Safe upcoming travels 🙏)
Dishoom is among my fav restaurants. I wrote about this too a couple of months ago:

Thanks for the read, Keshav. Will check out!
OK I audibly chuckled at Baron Harkonnen. Nice one.
Absolutely next level meme weekend hahahaha
